💚 Net-Zero Co-Lab, Planetary Health and Future-proofing Logistics

*|MC:SUBJECT|*
Hej,
It's been a while! We're thrilled to share a glimpse into the exciting projects we've done over the past months from running a sprint on Planetary Health to another Net-Zero Co-Lab, and helping wine importers future-proof their logistics. Also, don't miss out on our latest white paper outlining three strategic moves any freight-buying company can make to accelerate progress and innovation. Happy reading!
DFDS

Net Zero Co Lab #6: Smarter Routes, Shared Wins

Earlier this year, DFDS and Another Tomorrow hosted the sixth Net-Zero Co-Lab in Copenhagen, gathering logistics and sustainability leaders from companies like Amazon, Nestlé, Volvo, Danone, and Samsung. The focus: unlocking emissions reductions not just through better technology but through better decisions and collaboration.

Highlights from the two-day session:

The Avoidance Challenge
Participants explored real transport routes using a custom emissions scenario tool to identify:
  • Smarter modality choices (e.g. rail vs. road)
  • Cleaner fuel swaps
  • Network adjustments to avoid high-emission segments
Even small changes showed potential to avoid significant emissions without requiring major investments.

Collaborative Logistics
Day two shifted the lens from individual optimisation to shared network opportunities. Working in cross-company groups, the participants:
  • Mapped overlapping routes using anonymised tender data
  • Identified underused assets and potential for shared shipments
  • Drafted joint commitments to reduce emissions, improve efficiency, and lower costs
Key takeaway
Real decarbonisation gains are possible especially when companies look beyond their own walls. The appetite for collaboration is growing, and these labs continue to show that collective action isn’t just idealistic, it’s increasingly practical.

Our co-lab model can be applied to a lot of different industries and challenges. Interested in how it could work within your ecosystem?

Turning your logistics budget into a strategic lever for progress

As logistics evolves under pressure from emissions rules, rising costs, and digital disruption, many freight buyers are left footing the bill without shaping the outcome.

This white paper is your call to action. It shows how cargo owners, especially those who aren't global giants, can use their buying power to drive smarter, greener, and more resilient logistics.

Inside: 3 strategic moves to turn your freight budget into a strategic lever.

Wine Logistics

Establishing a future-proof and sustainable logistics solution

Together with a group of Swedish wine importers, we’ve been exploring how to future-proof their logistics and distribution across the country with a strong focus on sustainability and digitalisation.

Not only have we deep-dived into and identified their biggest pain points connected to their current solutions, but also helped them create a vision for what they are looking for in a logistics partner. The next step of the project is to further investigate possible solutions and their impact in order to support the wine importers in taking control of their logistics.

To ensure all relevant perspectives are involved, we also initiated a dialogue with Systembolaget who is the biggest customer for all wine importers. A couple of weeks ago, we held our first breakfast meeting, allowing for open discussions around how to improve logistics and sustainability within the beverage industry.
Karolinska Institutet

What does it take to shift the needle on planetary health?

Together with Karolinska Institutet, we hosted a cross-disciplinary sprint with 70 perspectives from youth organisations, NGOs, startups, corporates, and academia spanning food, medicine, climate, and animal welfare. The challenge: how can we combine our strengths to map real opportunities for change?

In just two hours, the groups surfaced powerful opportunities, from embedding planetary health in early education, to building communities of change, to shaping a circular and equitable economy.

To capture the outcome, we partnered with communications agency Azote to help us visualise it. As designer Coralie Legrand puts it:
“The first part shows a crushing reality. The second reveals what’s possible when we collaborate. The third offers a clear vision: thriving nature means thriving humanity.”

Stay curious and happy Summer!
